monopolice

monopolice is an alternative rock project founded by Filipino singer-songwriter and producer Miguel Lim (vocals),  Karl Lucente (guitars), Amiel Cortes (guitars), Steven Medalle (bass) and Peter Mascariñas (drums). Medalle later left the group for personal reasons and Jessiree Geverola filled in on bass duties.

What started as an experimental solo project of Lim and Lucente progressed into a full-fledged band, formed within the first rehearsal. Monopolice draws heavily from influences in 1990s and 2000s rock, art-rock, and shoegaze.

Their debut single – the catchy alternative tune “A Fine Day For A Swim” – made a splash as it was released in May 2023. Over the following two years, the band followed with the single releases for ‘Perfume’ and ‘Legion’. In 2025, monopolice released their long-awaited debut album El Elefante, carried by the energetic single ‘Hunter’.
