The Vast is a music duo hailing from Ozamiz City who currently based in Cebu. Members Stepoy and Geg had known each other since college when they decided to reunite in Cebu to start a band. They originally intended to have a sound inspired by bands such as Four Year Strong, but since they were new to the scene at the time and barely know anyone, they stuck to playing aggressively melodic acoustic pop-punk as a duo which they became known for.
During the pandemic and leading up to signing with Melt Records, they made a decision to change their sound to a full band setting, as Stephen would put it, “our songs deserve so much more than being limited to just acoustic”.
They plan to re-create their old songs and write new ones incorporating influences from various genres and leaning in to a much more progressive sound to capture the band name they carry, while retaining their signature call-and-response guitar riffs and distinct vocal harmonies.
The Vast will be pushing forward showcasing their new sound in a few new songs releasing soon.
