CEBU CITY, Philippines — After kicking off their new album campaign with the esoteric intro track ‘At 25, someone told me that I looked like a young Pete Wentz’, Cebu band Coloura is poised for a strong follow up in the pop rock gem, ‘Only Connection’. The new single is available on all major digital music platforms starting March 21.
“‘Only Connection’ is a song about staying in a relationship purely for intimacy—what some might call a situationship,” the band shares. “The lyrics describe a ‘friends with benefits’ dynamic where there’s no deeper emotional commitment, yet there’s a lingering hope that things might eventually evolve.”

The new track is co-produced by vocalist and songwriter Jake Russel Relacion and bassist Robert Michael Lim. “Initially, we leaned toward a hip-hop-influenced sound with fast-paced vocals, blended with an indie feel, something in the vein of Soccer Mommy,” the duo says.
“We ultimately scrapped that approach, thinking the combination might feel a bit off. However, traces of that original vision remain in the final track.”
The end result of this experimentation is an extremely catchy arrangement strongly reflecting Coloura’s signature style of pop rock that has won them a growing fanbase in the Cebu indie music scene as well as in other places. In addition to the song’s streaming release, a music video self-produced by the band is set to make its premiere on the release date.
‘Only Connection’ further sets the stage for the band’s first full-length album release which is set for a late 2025 release date.
