CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES – Hardcore punk band Turnpike have just kicked off the new year with their latest apocalyptic bomb, “Breaking Your Peace”. The new track is now available on major digital music platforms including Bandcamp, Spotify, YouTube Music, and more.
Breaking Your Peace picks up from where the band’s previous releases, the equally brutal Angels Weep and Fatal Cleansing, left off. The sound stays true to Turnpike’s newer and darker approach to their arrangements, easily falling into heavy metal territory while maintaining the short and sweet pace of a punk rock anthem.
Similarly, the words to the song maintain a fascination with apocalyptic scenarios from a biblical perspective, as the title of the track in itself reveals. “Man’s sloth, conformity, and convenience could be disguised in the form of peace,” describes vocalist and songwriter Bryle Tomilap. “Peace has thousands of interpretations, but it could be, at times, fatal.”
An unconventional meditation on spirituality, karma, and the end times, Breaking Your Peace is as honest as it gets. The track, along with the two prior singles, form part of the band’s upcoming sophomore album, which is set for an early 2024 release.
In addition to their prolific release schedule, the band, based in Cebu City, Philippines, is set to perform their first live show in Metro Manila this February 17th at Milenya in Marikina City for Unite Hardcore Fest 2024. All this momentum goes to prove that Turnpike, a relatively young act assembled only a year ago, has no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
