CEBU CITY, Philippines — Cebu pop rock band Coloura has just dropped a brand new track on January 31 called ‘At 25, someone told me that I looked like a young Pete Wentz’. The quirkily titled track serves as an introduction to the band’s forthcoming album set to be released within the year.
Coloura had been relatively quiet on new releases for the entirety of 2024 in contrast to the previous two years during which they released their rousing debut EP In Between in 2022 and the equally beloved Love and Influence almost exactly a year later in 2023. Despite not releasing their own music last year, however, the band collaborated with Indonesian pop rock act lightcraft and Dumaguete singer-songwriter Chelsea Dawn on a well-received track called ‘Coming Home’.
The band also continued to be prolific in the live music circuit, performing in major events in Cebu including Fete De La Musique as well as their first out-of-town show in Davao City for September Fever Coast2Coast.
For the yet untitled 2025 album, ‘a new sound’ is what the band simply promises to their growing fanbase.
“We were aiming for a more raw, organic yet polished sound, which kinda led us into a whole new genre,” describes vocalist and primary songwriter Jake Relacion. “It’s a bit heavier than our previous EPs, and is mostly inspired by 2000’s alternative rock and pop-punk.”
At a little less than two minutes long, ‘At 25…’ is short and sweet but delivers a punch with every second. The song also comes with music video that was entirely self-produced by the band. The video expertly utilizes a fisheye effect to represent the nature of the song, which can be described as anything but conventional. It is set to premiere on Coloura’s YouTube channel on the evening of the release as the band’s first ever music video release.
The band plans to release more new singles from the album in the coming months before dropping the full album, set to be their first full-length effort, towards the end of the year.
