CAGAYAN DE ORO, Philippines – Get ready to experience Francis Cang‘s latest instrumental marvel, Mayflower. Set to be released on February 16, 2024, Mayflower promises to be a captivating addition to your playlist, brimming with vibrant energy and a kaleidoscope of musical influences.
Francis‘ music hardly falls into any traditional genre and is known to blend elements of various musical styles. As he shared, his songs are typically a reflection of his inner musings and the emotions that swirl within him.
It was the euphoria of May 2023 that made Francis decide to encapsulate his emotions into a mesmerizing composition that transcends conventional genre boundaries. “My songs are purely instrumental. I don’t think a lot of people would enjoy listening to my music because it’s usually a hodge-podge of different genres,” Francis confessed. “And I wouldn’t say my music is loud but it’s definitely high-octane, energetic stuff.”
Drawing inspiration from progressive rock band Covet’s catharsis, Francis seamlessly blends math-rock intricacies with progressive fusion elements, resulting in a sonic masterpiece that defies categorization. Reflecting on his creative process, Francis revealed, “I promised myself that if this song didn’t make sense if I played it with just my guitar (minus all the other instruments), then it wasn’t going to work. Fortunately, it turned out okay.”
Creating Mayflower wasn’t without its challenges. Francis confessed to grappling with relinquishing some of the production responsibilities. However, with the help of skilled mastering engineer Rez Apego, Francis was able to achieve the perfect balance between artistic integrity and sonic precision.
Complementing its mesmerizing soundscape, Mayflower is interpreted visually by a masterpiece crafted by the talented David Ouano. Featuring a collage of wildflowers, the cover art perfectly complements the ethereal essence of Francis‘ music, inviting listeners into a world of enchantment and wonder.
As Francis gears up for the release of Mayflower, he invites listeners to embrace the fleeting moments of happiness. Listeners are invited to revel in the beauty of this musical piece.
So, mark your calendars and prepare to immerse yourself in the sonic universe of Francis Cang‘s Mayflower, out on February 16, 2024. Available for streaming and purchase on all major digital platforms and Bandcamp.
