CEBU CITY, PHILIPPINES — Vincent Eco teases the upcoming release of his EP Sa May Baybayon with a final single release called “The Way Things Go”. The new track is available on all major streaming platforms this Friday, November 29.
“The Way Things Go” is the fourth track in the EP’s tracklist and provides the thematic climax of the narrative. With the prior single “Baybayon” setting the stage for the love story and “Baby” surfacing trouble in paradise, “The Way Things Go” narrates the emotions of seeing one’s former lover after a long time.
“I wanted to make a song that incorporates a little bit of country folk,” Eco says, referring to the music’s strong hints of Americana and country music, a sound perhaps more familiar to Vincent Eco’s longtime fan base. At the same time, with David Prendergast still at the helm of producing, mixing, and mastering, lush and almost shoegaze-inspired textures contribute to the unique sound on the final recording.
“The Way Things Go” also introduces new collaborators into the mix. Karl Lucente (Mandaue Nights, Honeydrop) adds his touch with additional guitar parts to the track. Meanwhile, Vincent Eco’s The Sundown bandmate, Aaron Domingo, provides a layer of vocals that rounds up the track’s noteworthy arrangement.
The end result of it all is a soundtrack worthy of a long road trip and escaping the day-to-day realities of life. “Even though the song is a bit sad, I hope people listen and enjoy it as much as we did making the track,” adds Eco.
“The Way Things Go” wraps up a productive year for Vincent Eco and sets the stage for the release of Sa May Baybayon in its entirety. The drop is finally happening in January 2025, the same month Vincent Eco is set to make his global live debut at Music Lane Festival Okinawa.
