CEBU CITY, Philippines — In a surprise drop on December 6th, 2024, Cebuano pop rock band Coloura dropped a remix of their track “First Time” by electronic producer St3r10. The fresh new take infuses the originally chill pop tune, as included in Coloura’s debut EP In Between, with the producer’s signature drum-and-bass inspired electronica touch.
Fresh off the release of his own album Dreams With You earlier this year, St3r10 (Franco Miguel Dosdos in real life) has remained prolific creating remixes of various tracks by artists ranging from She Must Be Dreaming and labelmate Eliza Maturan. He is no stranger to working with Melt Records’ roster, as he had also previously produced a remix of Vincent Eco‘s “If You Leave” in 2023.
In a post on his Facebook page, St3r10 explained how the recent project came to be.
“The first time I heard ‘First Time’ by Coloura was during their live performances, I fell in love with the song and how it grooved,” he wrote. “Over time as I kept hearing the song in gigs and on my personal Spotify playlist, an idea grew on me to make a liquid drum-and-bass remix for the song to give it a different vibe, a different personality.”
Coloura, on their end, were more than happy about the opportunity to collaborate and had been excited to release the version. Following two straight years of dropping an EP, with 2022’s In Between and 2023’s Love and Influence, the band has not released any new music in 2024. On the other hand, they have remained more than active in the live circuit, performing at many shows, including the Cebu stage of Fete De La Musique as well as at the Davao leg of September Fever’s Coast2Coast caravan.
The band promises new music in the coming year and have already teased their ambitious new project through behind-the-scenes stories on social media. While it’s too early to tell where the project goes, fans of the band are sure to be in for a treat.
“First Time (St3r10 Remix)” is now available on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and more. The track is also available through Melt Records’ Bandcamp page.
